5 Stylish, Black Leggings You Can Wear With Anything!

Adidas Under Armour and Nike women's tights

I probably wear leggings 5 days out of 7.  It’s something about the cut and the fit – and the fact they hold me in in all the right places!  As with all things fashion, activewear collections launched each season reflect the trends seen on the runway.  Spring 2016 brought clashing prints and bold colours.  Wearing this look is fun.  But you can’t deny the understated cool and style of black leggings; the LBD of the workout wardrobe.

So if you have been thinking about refreshing your workout wardrobe, and a new pair of black leggings is on the cards, take a look at these 5 styles.  You can wear them with anything.

5 Black Leggings you can wear with anything

1. Adidas Super Nova Long Tights

You’ve just got to love Adidas tights.  They are stylish, classic and will serve your workout needs for a long time.

The Super Nova is designed as a second skin; cut to maximise natural movement and comfort when running. They come with all the usual design elements you’d expect … like a hidden drawcord  and ankle zips.  Best of all they are part of the Adidas Sustainable Product Programme, using recycled polyester in the fabric.

They are R799 and available online and in store at Adidas.

2. Nike Power Speed Tight

Nike tights are always a great fit.

This new style from Nike is a compression tight, with a screen-printed pattern along the line of key muscles, to provide extra support and mobility when running.  This is slim cut, offering more compression with a lighter fabric. And it also sports a small hidden pocket to hideaway your coffee money or keys.

I love the pattern on the legs.  But don’t stare at them for too long … you might get dizzy!

They are R1399 and available from Nike Stores, Total Sports (where I got  mine) and Sportsman’s Warehouse.

3. H&M Winter Running Tights

These tights are perfect for cooler months (brushed thermal lining).  And as I mentioned in my last post about H&M Sportswear, they have nailed quality and price.  These are comfortable, well designed and feature: a reflective print, elasticated, concealed drawstring at the waist, a zipped key pocket at the back and zips at the hems. Spot on!

At R599, you can’t go wrong.  Available at selected H&M stores.

4. Mango, Fitness & Running Slimming Effect Leggings

These workout leggings from Mango are a classic.  They are full length, high-waisted (providing good coverage) and have a wide waistband (which I love, because they make the tights super comfy around the stomach!). And best of all, they help you look a little bit slimmer.  These leggings really can be teamed with anything and worn anywhere!

At R699, they are a good price.  Available in store and online from Mango.

5. Under Armour, UA Mirror 29″ Studio Leggings

These tights offer a lot of nifty design features and finishes, which promise to make them incredibly comfortable and versatile.  It’s made from an amazingly soft and supportive fabric, which helps streamline your shape.  UA promises the fabric will never pull, pill or get baggy!  The tights also sport UA’s signature ‘no roll’ waistband, making them suitable and comfortable for just about anything.

These are approximately R1105 and available from the UA online store (it will be shipped from overseas, but if your order is more than R3154.54, shipping and returns are free).  Under Armour is also stocked in Stuttafords, but I am not sure whether these tights are part of the ranges available.

There you go ladies … you know where to get your classic, black workout tights!
